Vicksburg, MS The Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD) Board of Trustees has officially declared February as Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month, recognizing the district’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers through hands-on learning and workforce readiness programs.
During its recent board meeting, the trustees unanimously voted to adopt the resolution, emphasizing the importance of career and technical education in shaping the future of students and the local economy.
Superintendent Dr. Tori Holloway praised the decision, highlighting the district’s ongoing efforts to equip students with real-world skills.
"Career and Technical Education plays a crucial role in ensuring that our students graduate prepared for success in both college and the workforce," said Dr. Tori Holloway, Superintendent of Vicksburg Warren School District. "By officially recognizing CTE Month, we are reaffirming our commitment to providing students with opportunities that align with industry needs and workforce demands."
Board President Jim Stirgus echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of CTE in building a strong community.
"The school board is proud to support CTE programs that not only prepare students for their future careers but also contribute to the economic growth of Vicksburg and Warren County," said Stirgus. "These programs give our students a competitive edge and open doors to countless opportunities."
VWSD offers a wide range of CTE pathways, including health sciences, engineering, business, information technology, automotive technology, welding, and more. These programs provide students with hands-on experience, industry certifications, and connections to local employers, ensuring they are career-ready upon graduation.
CTE Director Dr. Terence James expressed enthusiasm about the district’s commitment to expanding and enhancing career-focused education.
