On the morning of Friday, September 20th, the RCEC Gala Committee seniors hosted the first pep rally of the year in the gym at Beechwood Elementary. The Cougar Pep Rally kicked off with the announcement of senior superlatives from their junior year. As a surprise for the teachers, the seniors presented awards in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the students.
The RCEC VIKTORS (Vikings & Gators), representing the band and fall sports, were also honored for their efforts this semester. To build excitement, students from each grade participated in games, with each class striving to win.
At the peak of the festivities, Mr. and Miss RCEC were announced. These seniors, chosen by their classmates, represent the best of RCEC. The 2024-2025 titles went to Mr. Mickell Jones (VHS) and Miss Alysha Murrell (VHS).
The theme for this year’s RCEC Gala was revealed, with seniors presenting the top three choices: Princess and the Frog, Enchanted Forest, and Oscar Night. The winning theme, chosen by the whole school, is Enchanted Forest. The Gala committee leaders introduced themselves and outlined their responsibilities, inviting students to join the committees to help make this year’s gala the best yet.
The event concluded with a spirited competition for the spirit stick, where each class showed their enthusiasm. The competition was fierce, but the sophomores emerged victorious for the first time!
The Gala committee extends its gratitude to the teachers and students who contributed to making the first pep rally a success, as well as to Beechwood Elementary for allowing us to use their gym for Spirit Cougar Day. This pep rally will surely be one for the books!
