River City Early College (RCEC) has recently seen the birth of a new student-led Christian group, GEN Now, aimed at fostering a sense of community and faith among students. The initiative began with Elizabith Ramsey, who was inspired by Warren Central's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club. However, after speaking with the administration, Elizabith learned that other students, Tatum Watts and Gracie Davis, had already brought up the idea of starting such a group. This serendipitous discovery led to a collaborative effort, with the three students now working together to ensure that all aspects of the group are well-organized and nothing is overlooked.

Elizabeth Ramsey’s vision for GEN Now goes beyond just a once-a-week meeting. She was particularly moved by the idea of creating a Christian community that extends beyond Sundays, expressing, "The devil is not scared of a Sunday faith, so I want it to be all week." This sentiment underscores her desire to cultivate an environment where faith is a daily practice, not just a weekend activity.

GEN Now meetings are designed to be more than just formal gatherings. They’re a space for students to hang out, talk about God, and share their personal faith journeys. Every week, a different student takes the stage to speak, creating a peer-to-peer atmosphere that encourages open dialogue and mutual support. The group also plans to incorporate Bible studies into some meetings, offering a mix of personal testimonies and deeper scriptural exploration. For those interested in sharing their stories, they can sign up by talking to Elizabeth,Tatum, or Gracie.

What sets GEN Now apart is not just its weekly frequency, the name "GEN Now" was suggested by Ace Orosco, a fellow student at RCEC, who believes that "we are the generation that is going to change the world." This bold statement reflects the group’s mission to inspire and empower students to make a positive impact, both in their school and in the wider world.

Currently, meets at 7:50 AM and concludes at 8:25 AM, although Elizabith notes that the timing is subject to change as the group continues to evolve. "We are just figuring it out," she says, emphasizing that the group is still in its early stages and open to adjustments as they learn what works best for everyone involved.

With a focus on inclusivity, faith, and community, GEN Now is quickly becoming a cornerstone of student life at RCEC, offering a space where students can come together, share their beliefs, and support one another in their spiritual journeys.
