Mrs. Julia Hood

Mrs. Hood's leadership experience began as the First Female ROTC Brigade Commander at Alcorn State University and launched a career in the US Army as a Commissioned Officer. After an Honorable Discharge, she began to pursue and perfect her skills in her first love: EDUCATION.

Mrs. Hood has over eighteen years of experience as an outstanding educator in the Vicksburg Warren School District. After receiving a Master of Education Degree from Cabrini College and an Education Specialist Degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Walden University, she returned to her hometown of Vicksburg and began working in the VWSD as a first grade teacher at Sherman Avenue. She was then selected as the Lead Teacher for Warren Central Intermediate School.

Continually striving for growth and excellence in her career as an educator and leader, she was offered and accepted an Assistant Principal position at Vicksburg High School.

Her journey has now led her to South Park Elementary as the Principal. She is committed to continuously exploring new ways to meet all students' needs and communicating more effectively with parents and community members.

Mr. Shaun Gordon

Mr. Gordon was born and raised in Vicksburg. He graduated from USM with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and William Carey University with a Master's in Administration. Mr. Gordon has 21 years in education, ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade; the last 13 years at South Park.

Mrs. Kadedra Young

Mrs. Young is from Vicksburg, MS. She attended The University of Southern Mississippi where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She also graduated from Alcorn State University with a Master's Degree in Counseling in 2021. She has been married to her husband, Paul, for 14 years and they have a son named Titus that is in Pre-K here at South Park. This will be her first year as a school counselor and considers herself lucky to be able to have the opportunity to pursue her passion in elementary school counseling.
