VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD) is reaffirming its commitment to providing students with college-ready opportunities by renewing its partnership with Alcorn State University for dual credit courses in the 2025-2026 school year.

For more than five years, VWSD and Alcorn State University have collaborated to offer students dual credit opportunities, allowing them to earn college credit while still in high school. The VWSD Board of Trustees recently approved the continuation of this partnership, ensuring that students—particularly those in the district’s Biomedical Science program—will have access to advanced coursework at no additional cost.

Through this agreement, students in the Biomedical Science program will be able to earn eight dual credit hours in General Biology I and General Biology II. By participating in these courses, students can reduce future college expenses and gain valuable experience in higher education while still in a supportive high school environment.

“Opportunities like these help prepare our students for college and career success,” said VWSD Superintendent Dr. Toriano Holloway. “We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with Alcorn State University and the impact it continues to have on our students’ futures.”

The dual credit initiative aligns with VWSD’s mission to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for postsecondary success. By offering rigorous academic experiences in high school, the district aims to create a seamless transition for students entering college and the workforce.
