The Five RCEC Students in their leadership roles for PTK

In a remarkable display of leadership and dedication, current students from the Vicksburg-Warren School District (VWSD) have taken the helm of the Alpha Omega Chi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society at Hinds Community College Vicksburg Campus. The induction ceremony, held today, showcased the talent and commitment of five RCEC students who have assumed key officer positions within the organization, making them the driving force behind this prestigious honor society.

Alysha Murrell, a standout student, serves as President, guiding the society with a vision that emphasizes academic excellence and community service. Under her leadership, the PTK chapter aims to create a welcoming environment for new inductees and foster their growth within the college community. Rae Bantugan takes on the role of Vice President of Membership, working tirelessly to recruit and support new members as they embark on their academic journeys.

Dion Adkins, serving as Vice President of Communications, is responsible for ensuring that information flows seamlessly between members and the wider community. This crucial role is in maintaining the society’s visibility and engagement. Meanwhile, Kennedy Mullins, as Vice President of College Project, leads initiatives that focus on making a positive impact on both the college and the Vicksburg community. Tatum Watts, as Vice President of Honors in Action, coordinates projects that encourage members to apply their learning in meaningful ways, further enhancing their academic experience.

Today's induction ceremony welcomed an impressive group of new members, highlighting the diverse backgrounds and achievements of the inductees. Among them were Lindsay Adams, Khaedyn Benson, Ashley Houston, and Ava Melton, all RCEC seniors from Vicksburg High School (VHS) and Warren Central High School (WCHS). Other inductees included Amariah Hill and Alexis Jefferies, both recent graduates from VHS and WCHS, respectively, alongside several students not affiliated with VWSD, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the PTK Honor Society.

The leadership of these VWSD students marks a significant milestone, showcasing the potential of high school students to lead and inspire in a junior college setting. Their commitment to excellence and community engagement sets a powerful example for their peers, proving that with determination and passion, they can shape their futures and the future of their community. The success of the PTK induction ceremony underscores the importance of fostering leadership skills among students, preparing them for impactful roles in higher education and beyond.
