The Vicksburg Warren School District is proud to announce the selection of Rebecca Jones as the new Principal of Bovina Elementary School. A native of Vicksburg and a longtime educator in the district, Jones brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and leadership to her new role.
Born and raised in Vicksburg, Jones graduated from Vicksburg High School before earning her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from The University of Mississippi. She continued her academic journey, obtaining a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College.
With 15 years of experience in the Vicksburg Warren School District, Jones has demonstrated a deep commitment to student success. She began her teaching career at Vicksburg Intermediate School, where she taught 3rd grade for three years. She then spent seven years teaching 2nd grade at Bowmar Avenue Elementary School, where she developed a passion for fostering early academic growth in students.
For the past five years, Jones has served as Lead Teacher at Bowmar, taking on increased leadership responsibilities while continuing to impact both students and staff. Her experience in guiding instructional strategies and fostering a collaborative school environment has prepared her well for her new role as principal.
"I'm truly honored and excited to step into this role at Bovina Elementary," Jones said. "I look forward to working alongside the amazing staff, students, and families as we continue to build a positive and enriching learning environment."
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jones is married to Captain Brandon Jones, and together they have four children: 11-year-old twins Emma and Greyson, 10-year-old Brooklyn, and 3-year-old Elise.
Jones' passion for education and leadership, combined with her dedication to the Vicksburg community, makes her a valuable asset to Bovina Elementary School. The district is excited about the future under her leadership and confident she will continue the tradition of excellence in education.
