Dear Parent/Guardian:
We are delighted to be responsible for transporting your child to and from school. We take pride in the excellent safety record of our school buses and the professionalism of our transportation team.
We may not be able to provide an exact time for the bus until after the first week of school. However, elementary buses will start their routes at 6:00 am and finish dropping off at the elementary school by 7:25 am. This means if your child is a bus rider, they should be at the designated bus stop, visible to the driver. Jr. high and high school buses will leave the elementary schools at around 7:30 am and drop off at the schools by 8:15 am. Students should also wait at the designated bus stop or somewhere visible to the driver.
We understand that some students may have to wait outside for a while before the bus arrives. After the first few days, parents should have a better sense of when to expect the bus. To ensure your child’s safety, please follow these important procedures:
- Provide your child with a backpack or book bag. Loose papers or items can be dangerous as children get off the bus.
- Check your child’s clothing for long drawstrings or other dangling items, which could get caught in the bus door as the child gets off the bus.
- Make sure your child arrives at the designated bus stop ten minutes early each day to avoid panicking or running into the road.
- Encourage your child to wait for the bus safely and orderly, away from the roadway. Misbehavior at the bus stop can create hazardous conditions for children.
- Instruct your child to wait for the bus driver’s signal before boarding. Children should board in a single file.
- Teach your child to sit quietly on the ride to and from school to avoid distracting the bus driver and causing accidents. Our drivers need to focus on driving safely.
If your child feels unsafe at the bus stop or during the bus ride, please contact us at the transportation department instead of discussing it at the bus stop.
We are fully dedicated to the safety of your child and all the children in our community.
Thank you!
