The Office of Special Education Services provides a variety of support services to students with disabilities. Eligible students may receive services between 3 and 21 years of age. Schools offer programs that provide academic, behavioral and related service supports in a specialized learning environment. Support services are provided in all district schools. Student identification procedures, achievement testing, programming and flexible scheduling require the participation of all school partners. Vicksburg Warren School District strives to identify and provide an educational benefit to all students with disabilities.
It is the responsibility of the Vicksburg Warren School District to provide education services to all students with a disability that meet their unique needs. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that students with disabilities be provided with a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Our goal is to uphold FAPE standards by providing educational benefit to students with disabilities in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

This includes children who are not in school; those who are in public, private, or home school; those who are highly mobile such as children who are migrant or homeless; and those who are advancing from grade to grade, who may need but are not receiving Special Education.
